JOHN HAVEMAN, SR. LAID TO REST MONDAY--RESIDENT OF THIS VICINITY FOR MANY YEARS PASSED AWAY AT HIS HOME THURSDAY

Mr. John Haveman, Sr., passed away rather unexpectedly at his home here in Hull, Thursday morning, April 29th, following an illness of several weeks due to his heart condition, having attained the age of 77 years, three months and 20 days.

John Havemann was born on January 3, 1871, in Hoogeveen, Holland, and came to the United States in 1893. After a few years he came to Hull from Enschede, Holland. They lived on their farm north of Hull until 1939 when the family moved to town.

Mr. Haveman leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Hilligje (Damming) Haveman and six children: John of Hull; Alice of Des Moines; Helena (Mrs. Gilbert Keizer) of Orange City; Jake of Cedar Rapids; Johanna (Mrs. Roger Klay) of Hull; Dena (Mrs. Johnnie Hospers) of Hull and four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Johanna Vander Zwaag of Hull and one step-sister, in Holland, Jennie Haveman Guichelaar, and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 3rd, at 1:00 o’clock at the home and at 1:30 from the Christian Reformed Church, in charge of the Reverend J. Haneaburg.

His body was laid to rest at Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Henry E. Koele, Arie Koele, Peter Soodsma, Sr., Fred Van Schepen, Emery Pabs, Arthur Stoehr and Marinus Schuurman.
