DEATH OF PETER VAN BEEK

Peter VanBeek, a well known resident of Rock Valley for several years past, died Saturday morning, March 20, following a few weeks' illness.

Mr. Van Beek was born in Holland January 16, 1854, and had attained the age of seventy-two years, two month and four days. He came to this country with his family thirty-three years ago. After farming a few years he moved to Rock Valley. Mr. VanBeek was a man of good christian character and was well thought of by all who knew him.

A wife and seven children are left to mourn, one child having died in infancy. The children are as follows: Peter VanBeek, of Hull; Nick Van Beek, Inwood; Gerrit and Mase, Rock Valley; Mrs. Siebert Kooima, Rock Valley; Mrs. TenKlay, Archer, Iowa; and Mrs. John DeBoer, Rock Valley.

Funeral services were held at the Old Reformed Church, of which Mr. VanBeek was a devout member, in Rock Valley, Wednesday afternoon, and the remains were taken to the Valley View Cemetery.
