MRS. CORNELIA RUS

Mrs. Cornelia Rus, wife of Jacob Rus, died at her home in Rock Valley early Sunday morning, following a lingering illness of several months duration, her death being due to uremic coma.

Mrs. Rus was born in Holland, Feb. 16, 1868, where she spent her early life and grew to womanhood. Mr. and Mrs. Rus lived on a farm southwest of Rock Valley for a few years. They moved to Rock Valley a month ago and resided here at the time of Mrs. Rus' death.

Funeral services were held at the Old Reformed church in Rock Valley Tuesday afternoon, and the remains were taken to Valley View Cemetery for burial services. The bereaved husband and children have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Rus, Cornelia, b. 16 Feb 1869, d. 2 May 1925, Valley View Cem Rock Valley IA.

The 1925 Iowa State Census (taken in January, before her death) has Cornelia Rus, age 56, born Holland, parents Arie Lugtigheid and Lizzie Knufe[?]; husband Jacob (57); children Nellie (28), Lissie (26), Neal (19), Bert (17), and Marinus (8).

The obituary for Jacob Rus (1867-1946), posted separately, says he is survived by his widow, Cornelia Lugtigheid Rus, and children. Evidently the obit writer got confused, as his wife at the time of his death seems to have been Tryntje Rus (previously Mrs. A. Schoneveld).
