Mr. John "Shorty" Woudsma, passed away very suddenly at 1:30 Sunday morning Sept 23rd at the Sheldon hospital due to a heart condition. He reached the age of 56 years, 10 months and 29 days.
John Woudsma was born Oct. 24, 1899 at Ossenzyl, Netherlands, where he attended school. In 1914 he came to the United States with his brother Maynard Woudsma and Mr. and Mrs. Kooy and family and settled at Lichville, North Dakota. He came to Boyden about 25 years ago, where he was a Chevrolet salesman for Kooiker's.
He leaves to mourn his passing one brother Maynard Woudsma of Rochester, Minnesota, three sisters, Ralphine, Mrs. Henry Dykstra of Friesland, in the Netherlands, Mrs. Jane Kooy of Worthington, Minn., and Mrs. Kathryn Ruyter with whom he made his home; 19 nieces and nephews besides a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Mrs. John Vander By of the Netherlands, who passed away in 1947 and Mrs. John Den Herder of Chandler, Minnesota passed away in 1949.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 Monday at the home of his nephew Henry Ruyter in Boyden and at 2 o'clock at the local United Presbyterian Church with Thomas Patterson
of Creston, la. in charge of service with interments at the Boyden Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Arthur Kooiker and Marvin Diekevers of Hull, Gerrit Roetman of Sanborn, Tony Arends and Albert Roetman of Sheldon and Glenn Salmon
