From the Sioux County Index (Hull), September 22, 1922:

Little James Boogerd Dead

The sad news was passed around town Saturday [September 16], that little James Boogerd had passed to the great beyond. He was the youngest child of Mrs. James Boogerd and although being a frail little lad was much loved by his family and friends.

James was born in Hull and at the time of his death was 7 years, 8 months and 10 days old. The cause of his death was a complication of diseases, the principal one being consumption [tuberculosis]. The funeral was held from the home and from the Christian Reformed church, Monday afternoon, Rev. J. J. Woersing presiding. The sympathy of the community is with the immediate relatives in their hour of sadness.

(A brief note in the Alton Democrat, Hull news, Sept. 23, 1922 gives his name as Jimmie Bogaard. He does not appear in the Sioux County Cemetery Index under either surname.)
