Mrs. Marie Hansen, an Alton resident for over 55 years, died Friday, March 20th. She lacked less than 93rd birthday. Seven months ago she was taken to a nursing home in Hawarden for care, and passed on at that care and passed on at that place.

The family came to the United States and moved to Alton in 1895 and Mrs. Hansen continued to live in her home on the Floyd River in North Alton, until incapacitated by age and infirmities. Her three sons were frequent visitors and she had the devoted attention of her resident son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hansen.

Survivors include the three sons, Harry of Alton, Nick of Jackson, Nebraska, and William of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Rockenbrandt of Minneapolis; two grandsons; and 3 great-grandchildren. Her husband and one son, Alexander, preceded her in death many years ago.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 23 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Reverend Zeno Reising officiating. Pallbearers were George Bowers, Otto Probst, George Kellen, D.T. Hoxmeier, Frank Vortherms and Peter Schneider.

Mrs. Hansen was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Mary’s and a faithful member of the church as long as she was able to attend services. She was a devoted mother, a kind friend, cheerful and uncomplaining in her declining years.

Hodapp, all of Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Art Doctor of Orange City; Mr. and Mrs. Hector Prommier and Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Ruppert of Currie, Minnesota; Mrs. R.C. Schietz
