Funeral services for William Bryon Hansen, 61, were held Sunday afternoon at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home at two o’clock with Reverend Marvin Nelson officiating. He died Thursday at 9 A.M. in the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City after a short illness. He had under gone surgery about two years ago.

William Hansen was born at Keystone, Iowa, September 2, 1895. He spent his early childhood at Kingsley, Iowa. After serving in World War I, he settled in Rock Valley in 1921, where he owned and operated the Corner Drug Store for 25 years. He married Irene Long of Rock Valley February 1928 and one son was born to this union.

Mr. Hansen was a member of A.F. and A.M. Lodge of Rock Valley, the Consistory and Shrine at Sioux City and the American Legion.

Survivors are his wife, Irene, a son John Kenneth and a grandson, David Dale.

Pallbearers were Judson Smith, Warren Anderson, Louis Kopsas, Earl Gort, Gene Bunch and Donald Klein. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Neal Jongewaard of Sioux Center, Ernie Eisentrager, Alvord, Harvey Barnard, J.P. Schutt, Elmer Miller and Gerrit G. Vermeer.

Mr. Hansen was a member of the Rock Valley baseball team when a young man and has kept his connection with the sport, having done the broadcasting over the public address system during the last few years.

Interment was in the Valley View Cemetery here. Military rites were conducted.

Relatives and friends attending from a distance were four member of the Reiner family of Philip, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hargens and family of Spencer, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hansen of Primghar, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Henning of Hartley, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Long and Mrs. Virginia Long and son Tommy of Mitchell, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Vande Stouwe, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walcott and Al Eckert all of Sioux City.
