Eldon Kepford Dies at Age 66

Eldon L. Kepford, 66, former barber and a mill operator here, died at a Sioux Falls hospital. Funeral services were held at the Banton Chapel at Sioux Falls Monday afternoon, Rev. N. Langhold officiating, with burial at Sioux Falls.

Mr. Kepford was born in Brown county, Iowa, December 1, 1889. He married Nadine Mitchell in Canton, S.D., on April 22, 1928. He operated a flour mill here for some time and was also a barber in Hawarden. He was a member of the Lutheran church and of Painters' Local No. 557. In 1927 he moved from Alcester to Sioux Falls where he operated the Deluxe Barber shop before becoming a painter and decorator in 1932. In 1950 he opened the Riverside Barber shop in Sioux Falls and retired in 1955.

Survivors include the widow; four sons, Earl, James and Charles, of Sioux Falls and Joe of New York City; three daughters, Mrs. Vernon Ellenbacker of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Curtis Mutch of Algona and Mrs. David Erickson of Garretson, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Brennen of Sioux Falls and five grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. John Jurgenson of Hawarden attended the funeral.
