From the Rock Valley Bee, September 8, 1922:

DEATH OF FORMER RESIDENT

The following item from a South Hartfrd, N.Y., paper, regarding the death of James Eugene Lundy, a former resident of Rock Valley, will be of interest to people of this vicinity:

"James Eugene Lundy died at his home, 'The Pines,' Wednesday afternoon, August 16, after a several months illness with malignant endocarditis or valvular disease, aged thirty-nine years. He was born in Iowa and came to South Hartford twelve years ago. He was a member and trustee of the Congregational church, and was elected justice of the peace last fall. He was a man of sterling qualities and will be greatly missed in the community.

"His only sister died in March and his father, James Lundy, a member of Co. E, 123rd N.Y. Volunteers, died at the home here in May--the three in less than six months. He is survived by his widow and one son, James Evans.

"The funeral was largely attended Saturday afternoon from the home. The floral tributes were beautiful and in great profusion. Granville post, Sons of Veterans, attended in a body, and had charge of the services at the grave, which were very impressive. His pastor, Rev. Healing, delivered a fine eulogy. Rev. H. T. Kearns of Bridgeport, Ct., read the scriptures, and Rev. T. S. Lewis of Scranton made the prayer. The bearers were the same as at his father's funeral, William, Edward, and Dale Gibson, Almon Durkee and John Lundy, all cousins. Interment was made in Morningside cemetery.

"Some of the out of town friends present were Finley Evens and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Jones, Glens Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Will Paul, Hudson Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Henry McNeil, William Lundy and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Engle, Mr. and Mrs. George McEachron, Hebron; Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Batease, Albany; Mr. and Mrs. John Shields, Argyle."
