Obituary
Mrs. John G. Horn

On Saturday, July 29, 1922, occurred the death of Mrs. John G. Horn, at the Cram hospital in Sheldon, Iowa, where she had undergone an operation for gall stones on Monday, July 24th. Mrs. Horn had been ailing for a number of years. Funeral services for the deceased were held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the house and 2:00 o'clock at the United Presbyterian church with Dr. W. T. McConnell, officiating. Interment was made in the Boyden cemetery.

Minnie Pickhardt Horn was born on the ninth day of September, in the year of 1852, at Walldeck, Germany. At the age of three years, she came to this country with her parents. She was married to S. M. Harman, on the 27th day of April, 1875, and to this union two sons were born. They are Henry and William. Her husband died in May, 1878, and on the 12th day of September, 1882, she was united in marriage to John G. Horn. She passed away Saturday, July 29, 1922, at the age of 69 years 10 months and 20 days. She leaves to mourn her departure, her husband, two sons, one daughter, two brothers, two sisters and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Horn possessed a loving disposition and was a kind wife and mother. She was a woman of sterling character, and a devout Christian. For the past twenty some ears, she had identified herself with the United Presbyterian church. Her death is a great shock to this entire community, where it has cast a shadow of sorrow. She was a resident of Sioux county for 32 years.

The relatives and friends from out-of-town who attended the funeral are: Mr. William Pickhardt, of Grinnell, Ia.; Mrs. Mary Maxfield of Welcome, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pickhardt of Richfield, Wis.; Mrs. James Hardacre, of Amherst, S.D.; Mr. Clyde Sharp, John Finch and Mr. and Mrs. John Schafer of Spirit Lake, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Coon Schafer and Mrs. Mary Dewert of Plankington, S.D.; Mrs. Will Miller, of Doon, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Vander Well of Rock Valley, Iowa.

The Reporter extends its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and relatives.

A briefer obituary in the Alton Democrat, August 5, 1922, adds that she has always taken an active part in church missionary and aid societies as far as her health would permit.
