This community was saddened Monday morning by the unexpected passing of Mrs. Peter J. Hansen, 65, nee Anne Even, at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars, where she had been reported improving up to Saturday.

Anne Even was born June 24, 1891, at Humboldt, South Dakota to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Even. The family moved in 1900 to Alton, which has been Mrs. Hansen’s home for 56 years. She was married to Peter J. Hansen January 11, 1926. Mr. Hansen died in 1946.

Survivors include a daughter, Miss Mildred Hansen of Alton, and three sons, Reverend Karl of Maryhill, Arthur of Sioux City and Peter of Alton; three brothers: Frank J.T. Even and Edward Even, both of Alton; three sisters: Miss Otillia Even of Alton; Mrs. Ray Sudelgte of Remsen, Mrs. Cliff Meylor of Sheldon; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Hansen was a devoted wife and mother and a loyal friend. She was for many years active in the social and club life of the community as well as a faithful member of St. Mary’s Parish.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, December 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Celebrant of the Solemn Mass of Requiem was Reverend Father Karl Hansen of Maryhill; deacon was Very Reverend Father Zeno Reising, pastor of St. Mary’s; sub-deacon, Father James Fandel of Lake City; master of ceremonies, Reverend Father Dear Walker of Sutherland.

Many relatives and friends were present and many beautiful floral offerings paid tribute to her memory.
