Mrs. John P. (Anna A.) Hansen, age 104, of Alton, died Wednesday, May 17, 1995 at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen after a brief illness.

A funeral service were held on Saturday, May 26 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anton. Reverend Ronald J. Reicks officiated. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Alton under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home, Remsen.

Anna was born May 21, 1890,in Springbrook, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Puetz) Kilburg. She moved with her family to Alton in 1906. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy at Alton in 1909. After teaching in a country school for three years, she married John P. Hansen on November 26, 1912 at Alton. The first two years of their married life they farmed at Dell Rapids, South Dakota, returning to the Alton area in 1915 where they farmed until retiring in 1940. John died July 16 1978. Anna had been a resident of the Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen since August, 1987.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Rosary Society.

Survivors include a son, Albert and his wife Viola Hansen of Alton; a grandson, Jim and his wife Phyllis Hansen of Monroe, Nebraska; granddaughters, Mary Ann Hansen of Alton and Rosemary and her husband Scott Joanning of Gladston, Missouri; great-grandchildren: and a sister, Sister Mary Georgia Kilberg, O.S.F. of Mount St. Francis, Dubuque.

She was preceded in her death by her husband, John; a daughter, Bernice in infancy; a grandson, John Hansen in infancy; three sisters, Mrs. Peter J. (Margaret) Hansen, Miss Carrie Kilberg, and Mrs. James (Jean) Larken; and two brothers, Peter and Arthur Kilburg.
