Nicolaas Hanemaayer, 72, passed away at his farm home west of Orange City, Sunday, June 25, at 6:45 p. m. He had been ailing for more than a year, complications set in a week ago and from this he failed to rally.

Mr. Hanemaayer was born in De Lier, The Netherlands on March 22, 1867. He came to America with his parents in 1882.

On March 18, 1892 he was united in marriage to Louisa Scholting at Orange City.

The couple settled at Hospers and moved to Rock Valley in 1894. In 1900 they moved to the farm west of Orange City.

He is survived by five children Peter E. of Centralia, Illinois, Sophia, Mrs. E. Sorgdrager ol Alton; Pauline, Mrs. Dave Costa, Seward, Nebraska, Ben and Lee of Orange City.

Other survivors include three grandchildren and one half brother, C. Van Geest of Cazenovia, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 at the home and at 2 o'clock at Trinity Reformed Church with Reverend Mr. J.G. Brouwer officiating. Interment was made in the Orange City Cemetery.
