DEATH CLAIMS WELL KNOWN FARMER

Fred Haage, widely known farmer and land owner of Preston Township, Plymouth County, died at his home Saturday following a heart attack. His death was unexpected. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Preston Township Lutheran Church with Reverend Theo. Meyer, the pastor, officiating, assisted by Reverend Carl Meyer. Interment was made in the cemetery at the church.

Fred Haage was born in Germany December 25, 1859, where he grew to young manhood. When 19 years of age he came to America, locating in Plymouth County, and so had lived in this vicinity for 60 years. At. first he worked on farms but later he engaged in farming for himself and by thrift and hard work he became an extensive land owner and a successful stockman.

He is survived by nine children, John and Herman and Mrs. William Lubben of Le Mars; Henry and Fred Haage, Mrs. Louis Meyer, Mrs. Cora Cassene and Mrs. Henry Borchers of Akron, and Gerd. Haage who lives at home. There are 21 grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. John Doering of Le Mars and Mrs. Marlenau of Ireton. His wife, Johanna S. (Nannen) Haage preceded him in death four years. A number of relatives from Ireton attended the funeral.
