Mrs. Magdalene Gutchenritter Haag, early resident of the Hospers vicinity, died December 3, in the Sacred Heart Hospital, Le Mars, at the age of 95 years.

Mrs. Haag was born May 11, 1863 in Washington County, Iowa. She was married to Jacob S. Haag in 1883 at Alton. Her husband passed on in 1944. The couple lived on a farm near Hospers until 1939, when they retired and moved to Sheldon.

Three daughters and four sons survive. One son, Ralph died in 1955 and a son, Leander, died in infancy. The daughters are Bertha, Mrs. Nels Larsen of Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Gertrude Rager and Carrie, Mrs. John Sweeney of Sioux City. The sons are Nathan of Elsinore, California; Carl of Alton, Jess of Sheldon and Eugene of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at St. Patrick’s Church in Sheldon Saturday and burial was in the family plot at Hospers Catholic Cemetery. Pall bearers were Ray O’Kane, Fred Fischer, Louis Croatt, Nick Graff, Frank Robinet and Earl Mullin.

Her son Carl of Alton, who had arrived at Tampa, Florida with Mrs. Haag to spend the winter, returned to Iowa by plane, arriving in Sheldon Friday. All the other children with the exception of Nathan Haag of Elsinore, California were present for the services Saturday.
