John Henry Haag, 86, formerly of Alton, died Monday, February 15, 1993, at the Willow Dale Nursing Home in Battle Creek.

Services were held Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anton with the Reverend Gerald Zensen officiating. Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars under the direction of the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Anton.

Mr. Haag was born June 4, 1906, at Hospers, the son of Anton and Elizabeth (Dundan) Haag. He married Mildred C. Baak June 4, 1935, in Le Mars. He worked at the A & P Grocery Store in Ida Grove and also at the Maynard Lux farm near Cherokee. He then moved to Le Mars and worked at the Neubrand Construction Company. He taught industrial arts and driver’s education for 18 years at the Quimby School. Mrs. Haag died May 4, 1971. He married Erna M. Keitges December 28, 1974, in Anton.

Mr. Haag was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus at Le Mars.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Gerald and his wife, Karen of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; Bob and his wife, Dee of Mead, Nebraska; Dennis of Sebring, Florida; and Ernie, Phyllis of Maplewood, Minnesota; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Christine and Glenn Callaghan of Mapleton and Mary and Richard Pope of Anthon; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Don; and four brothers.

Pallbearers were Bob, Dennis, Ernie, Gerald and Richard Haag and Richard Pope.
