Albertus (Bert) Eggink, former Alton resident, died Saturday, November 10th at a Slayton, Minnesota Hospital where he had been a patient for some time. Joe Eggink of Alton was called to his brother’s bedside Friday.

Attending the funeral Wednesday were Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Karssen, long time friends here.

Mr. Eggink was born August 30, 1881 in the Netherlands; and was 75 years old at the time of his passing. He and his brother Joe came to the United States in 1904, settling at Alton. Later their stepmother joined the sons here and made her home with Joe, the younger son. Bert homesteaded in South Dakota in 1905 and lived on a farm near Chandler since 1912.

Surviving are his wife, Josie (Vrymoet) Eggink and three sons: Joe, Tony and Leonard, all of Chandler, four daughters: Mrs. Arie Vander Lugt of Woodstock, Minnesota; Mrs. William Karssen, Miss Bernice Eggink and Miss Josephine Eggink, all of Chandler; seven grandchildren; and brother Joe of Anton.
