N. L. Youngers Killed in Fall from Corn Crib

N. L. Youngers retired farmer of the Sheldon-Hospers vicinity was fatally Injured late Thursday in an accident on the homestead on which he was born.
Nicholas L. Youngers, 78, who has resided in Sheldon since his retirement, fell 20 feet from the top of a corn crib on the homestead now occupied by his daughter, Mrs. Pete Stapenhorst, and her husband. J. A. Vander Ploeg, O'Brien county coroner, said death was the result of a broken neck.
Mr. Youngers was born June 21, 1897, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter L. Youngers, early day settlers in this community. The coroner, said he evidently slipped as he was adjusting a grain spout on the crib. The homestead is located between Sheldon and Hospers, Ia. Mr. Youngers married February 5, 1907. He and his wife, Magdalena, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last February. The accident victim was a fourth - degree Knight of Columbus.
Survivors, in addition to the widow and the daughter, include another daughter, Mrs. James Toney of Uklah, Cal.; a son Merlin of San Diego, Cal.; five brothers, Theodore of Chula Vista, Cal., Andrew of Los Angeles, Samuel of Chicago, Clarence of Sheldon, and five sisters, Mrs. Curtis Cutting of White Rock, British Columbia, Mrs. Louis Leosch of Oldham, S. D., Mrs. Hal Buntley of Sioux City, Mrs. Forrest Potter of Primghar, la., and Miss Leone Youngers of Sheldon.
