From the Rock Valley Bee, June 23, 1922:

MARY MYRTLE CHISHOLM

Mary Myrtle Chisholm was born March 31, 1879, in Cedar County, Iowa, and died in Torrington, Wyoming, Monday evening, June 12, 1922. She was the third in line of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. James Chisholm. After the usual early training and various employments of young womanhood, Miss Chisholm entered upon a course of training in the hospital at Loveland, Colorado, where she graduated some twelve years ago. Since that time she had been busily engaged in various quarters, in her chosen profession. She has nursed in Idaho, in the Government Hospital in the Hawaiian Islands during the war, and at different times in Wyoming.

When a young girl of about fourteen, she united with the United Presbyterian Church at Rock Valley, Iowa, of which she was a faithful and consistent member. Her Christian faith was of a practical kind, and she found opportunity to serve her Master in the work she had chosen for life. Nursing with her was not a mere means of earning a living, but a channel through which she poured abundantly the waters of mercy. She was a veritable replica of the Good Samaritan. No sacrifices were too great, if by them she might pull her patients through sickness, and she probably lost her life finally by her strict devotion to those afflicted with the disease which carried her off. Doubtless her Master is saying to her today what He uttered in His parable ages ago, "Well done good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee lord over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."

Miss Chisholm is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Chisholm, of Sheldon, Iowa, and by five brothers and sisters, Rev. W. O. Chisholm, of Newton, Ia., George Calvin Chisholm, of Torrington, Wyoming, James Fred Chisholm, of Sheldon, Ia., Adelphia Viola, now Mrs. J. J. Eernisse, of Hull, Ia., and Mrs. Rosalin Chisholm Anderson of Torrington, Wyoming.

The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal Church of Rock Valley, June 15, 1922, and were in charge of Rev. H. O. Allen, of Sheldon. Interment was made in the family lot in the Rock Valley Cemetery.
