Died: October 8, 1943Rein Fikse passed away at the state hospital at Cherokee, Iowa, on Friday morning October 8, 1943 at the age of 75 years.
He was taken to the hospital there about three weeks ago after first being cared for a week at the Pioneer Home in Orange City.
He was born in the Netherlands on May 20, 1868 and came to this country in 1892 settling in New Jersey where he was also united in marriage to Gertrude Vanden Berg. He and his family have been living in the Sioux Center community since the year 1902.
He was preceded in death by his wife who passed away in 1929 and two children who died in infancy.
The only survivor is his son Roy with whom he made his home for the past several years.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Reverend L.A. Brunsting officiating. Burial was in the Sioux Center Cemetery.
