Last rites held for Henry Ykema

Funeral services were held Tuesday for Henry Ykema, 74, who died at his home Friday evening after a long illness, at 1 p.m. at the Porter Funeral home and at 1:30 at the First
Christian Reformed church. Rev John Byker officiated and the burial was at Grace Hill cemetery at Hawarden.
Mr. Ykema was born Nov. 12, 1888 in the Netherlands and came to the United States in 1909. He married Jennie Hoekstra on Feb. 16, 1915 and farmed for 25 years near Hawarden until moving here 10 years ago.
Survivors include the widow; five sons. August of Coopersville, Mich., Tony of Oklahoma City, Lawrence of Hudson, S. D., and Norman and Melvin of Luverne, Minn. Three daughter, Mrs. John Feenstra of Allendale, Mich., Mrs. Paul Wallinga of Grand Haven, Mich., and Mrs. Henry Van Maanen of Rock Valley; a brother, Richard of Medelia, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Vander Stoel of Hull and 32 grandchildren.
