Doctor Alvin Jay Eason, retired Algona dentist, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday morning January 8, 1977. He had risen, had coffee and returned to his bedroom where Mrs. Eason found her husband later.

Funeral services for Dr. Eason were held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of the Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Walter F. Morz of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery.

Born at Alton, Iowa, October 4, 1900, A.J. Eason was a son of Stephen and Susan Pool Eason. He graduated from high school and attended the University of Iowa School of Dentistry where he was graduated in 1925. From there he came to LuVerne where he opened his practice.

Dr. Eason was married to Frances Slikkerveer at Sioux City June 29, 1927. They lived in LuVerne until 1934 when the Easons came to Algona. Dr. Eason retired from denistry in November of 1975.

He was a charter member of the Algona Lions Club, a member of Psi Omega Dental Fraternity and was associated with the American Dental Society. Dr. Eason was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the out-of-doors.

He is survived by his wife, Fran; and one daughter, Mary Susan, Mrs. Ervin Ogland of Indianola. There are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A sister, Mrs. Harry De Jong of Orange City, Iowa and a brother, Ernest of San Diego, California, also survive.

Dr. Eason was preceded in death by a daughter, Marjorie, Mrs. James Potter, who died in 1974; his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
