Mrs. G Zyp Passed Away Monday

Mrs. Gerrit Zyp, passed away at her home in Rock Valley at seven o'clock Monday morning, May 6, following a lingering illness of several months duration, her death being due to cancer. Mrs. Zyp had been a resident of Rock Valley for the past twenty-three years, and had a number of friends here. She was a woman of a kind and generous disposition and was esteemed and respected by all who knew her.
Mrs. Zyp was born in Holland October 22, 1878, and had attained the age of fifty years, six months and four days. Her early life was spent in her native land where she received her education and grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage with Gerrit Zyp at her home in the Netherlands March 20, 1906. She came with her husband to this country immediately following her marriage and has been a resident of Rock Valley since that time.
Mrs. Zyp leaves her husband, her parents, who reside in Holland, and five brothers and four sisters, three sisters and three brothers are still living in Holland. Her other brothers are Peter and Gerrit Rozeboom of Kalamazoo, Michigan, one of whom Gerrit, was here for the funeral services. One sister, Mrs. M. DeBlonk, living at Volga, S. D. Mr. and Mrs. DeBlonk were with her during the last two weeks of her sickness.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the First Reformed church. The services were in charge of Rev. R. D. Douwstra of the First Reformed church and Rev. J. Critter of the Christian Reformed church.
