Reuben Grotenhuis passed away at his home Wednesday, June 22 at 12:15 P.M., having reached the age of 60 years, 1 month and 13 days. Death was due to a heart attack. He was born May 9 on a farm 2 miles north of Newkirk. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit J. Grotenhuis.

On February 21, 1924, he married Marie Ver Steeg at Orange City and they resided on the farm 2 miles north of Newkirk.

Surviving are his wife, aged mother, Mrs. Dena Grotenhuis of the Ashton Nursing Home, two sons, Marley of Sibley and Lloyd of Newkirk, 2 brothers, James T. Grotenhuis of Tucson, Arizona, Ben Grotenhuis of Orange City, two grandchildren, Marlin and Pamela.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 25 at 1:00 P.M. at the house and 1:30 P.M. at the church. The Reverend Stanley D. Schipper was in charge. Interment was in the Newkirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Hoffs, Arthur Mouw, Harry Vander Pol, Howard Langstraat, Herman Langstraat and William Vande Hoef.

Mr. Grotenhuis was a lifelong member of the Newkirk Church. Relatives attending from a distance were Mr. Elmer Ver Stteeg of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Wayne Gutzman of Vermillion, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. John Van Klompenburg, Mrs. Cornie Wilkens of Montivedeo, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Grotenhuis and Arthur of South Holland, Illinois and Reverend and Mrs. Norman Menning of Allison, Iowa.
