Kenneth Allen Goodmanson, 81, of Sioux Falls, died Thursday, September 4, 2008. Funeral services was September 13, at Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, with the Reverend Siri Sorenson officiating. A Committal Services was held September 14 at Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden.

Kenneth Goodmanson was born March 26, 1927 the son of Ernest F. and Lucille Helen (Miller) Goodmanson in Ireton. He graduated from the Ireton High School in 1944. Kenny enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Puget Sound. His ship was present in Okinawa when the Japanese signed the surrender agreement at the close of World War II in 1945.

On January 22, 1945, Kenny was united in marriage with Shirley Green in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He was employed at the Post Office after the couple moved to Correctionville, Iowa in 1949. He later entered the Iron Workers Union, and remained a member for 45 years. He worked for many different contractors, including the original wings of Sioux Valley Hospital, the Sioux Falls treatment plant, the rail bridge spanning the river in Sioux City. He retired in 1989.

Kenny played minor league baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Sioux Falls; three daughters, Gayle (John) Jacobs of Correctionville, Barbara (Tom) Kramer of Gilbert, Minnesota, Marcia Goodmanson of Sioux Falls; two sons, Earl (Dianne) Goodmanson of Portland, Oregon, David (Jeanette) Goodmanson of Boynton Beach, Florida; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Norma Jean Van Osbree of Grand Island, Nebraska, Glenda (Fred) Asher of Spearfish, South Dakota, Mary Lou (Reverend Bob) Baxter of Dothan, Alabama; one brother, Larry (Kathy) Goodmanson of Canby, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lyle Goodmanson; a sister-in-law, Helen Goodmanson; and a brother-in-law, John Van Osbree.
