Celeste Ann (Grady) Flaherty, formerly of Granville, died May 14, 1993 at Pocahantas, Iowa.

Services were held at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church on Monday, May 17, 1993 at 2:00 P.M.

Celeste Ann Grady was born on June 8, 1920 at Granville. She was the daughter of Chris and Christine (Schmit) Grady. She was educated in Granville and graduated from high school in 1937. Celeste worked in Omaha for a short period of time. From 1936 until 1956, she was a housekeeper for her brother, Father Sylvester Grady. On May 15, 1956 Celeste married William M. Flaherty at Granville. The couple lived on their farm north of Palmer until December 1988, when they moved into Pocahantas.

Celeste was a member of the Resurrection Parish and the Ladies Society. She was a former Girl Scout leader. She belonged to the Palmer Ladies Coffee Club. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She spent much time fishing and camping in Minnesota.

Survivors include her husband, William; children: Marty (Darlene) Flaherty of Lincoln, Nebraska; Jody Flaherty of Palmer; Chris (Ruth) Flaherty of Westfield, Illinois; and Bridget (Mark) Hallman of Pocahantas; four grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Grady of Granville; sisters, Viola Schmidt of Ohio; Susan Smola of Omaha, Nebraska and Clare McGuinness of Seattle, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers.

Casket bearers were Mick Hoffert, Doug Flaherty, David Grady, Pat Grady, Harvey Grady and Butch Flaherty.
