Farmer near Hull burned to death. Mr. August Breuer (aks Johann A.) who lived alone on a farm a few miles northeast of Hull, was burned to death sometime between the hours of 6 p . m. Tuesday evening and 7 o'clock Wednesday morning. He had spent the day Tuesday, at the home of his son Henry nearby, and had returned to his home at the hour above stated. In morning the grandchildren were sent over to his home on an errand and not being able to get in or make themselves heard, returned and gave the alarm.

An entrance was forced and Mr. Breuer was found lying on the bed, his legs and arms Utterly burned to a crisp. From the condition of the room, it was evident that he had met with
some kind of an accident with a small kerosene lamp and had made a terrific fight for life. The furniture in the room was all badly scorched and the clothes burned completely off from him. He had succeeded In getting the fire out, but apparently died from the effects of the burns.

Mr. Breuer was past 79 years of age, and had been living alone ever since the death of his son Paul a few years ago, his wife having been dead for many years. He was father of ten children, the only one surviving Is his son Henry.—Hull Index.

Iowa death records list August’s wife as Anna K. Schroeder (aks Katherina or Catherina Schroeder), he was born Jan 15, 1842 Germany. His father listed as Delef?? And mother was Anna Marie Meyer, died Nov 30, 1921 from burns caused by a Keroene lamp explosion. They had a son Herman born 23 Apr 1879 did 23 Apr 1908 buried Sheridan Township cemetery Boyden IA. Another son possibly was Paul Frederick Breuer born 15 Oct 188 Iowa died 19 Oct 1912 Sheridan Township, Hull, Sioux IA. Father August Breuer and Catherina Schroeder.
