MRS. M. GOOSEN, SISTER OF HULL LADY, BURIED THURSDAY

Mrs. Michael Gossen passed away at the family residence in Rock Rapids on Monday afternoon, August 11, after a lingering illness. Funeral services were conducted from the Holy Name Catholic Church at Rock Rapids last Thursday morning, August 14, at 9 o’clock and interment was in the McCabe family lot in the Catholic Cemetery here in Hull. Reverend Father O’Leary was in charge of the services.

Helen Leona McCabe, daughter of Matthew and Hannah McCabe. Was born at Fountain, Minnesota, March 28, 1872, and was 69 years, 4 months and 14 days of age at the time of her passing. Her early life was spent on the farm of her father in Sioux County, not far from Hull. She was married to Michael Gossen, April 24, 1901, moving with him to Rock Rapids to make her home.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Gossen: Mrs. Ethel McCord of Cherokee, William Gossen of Grinnell, Orville Gossen of Spencer, and Kathryn Deilmer and Michael, Jr. of Rock Rapids. Another son, Michael, died at the age of 18 months.

Besides the husband and children, Mrs. Gossen is survived by two sisters: Mrs. F.R. Buren of Sheldon and Mrs. J.L. Curtis of Hull; and a brother, Matthew McCabe of Boyden. Also two grandchildren: Frank Jr. and Janice McCord.
