Funeral services for George E. Gould, 73, of Hawarden, who died July 31 in Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, were held last Saturday at the Hawarden Baptist Church with Reverend Myrle Horner officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pete Sinkey served as organist, and Leonard Blinde sang "In the Garden" and "Where We'll Never Grow Old." Casket bearers were Lloyd Lundeen, Lloyd Johnson, Harry Strong, Pete Sinkey, Richard Janssen, and Donald Schmidt. Military graveside services were conducted by the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts.

Mr. Gould was born September 12, 1894, in Chelsea, Wisconsin. He was a mail carrier in Kimball, South Dakota, and in Verdel, Nebraska, prior to moving to Hawarden in 1938. He retired eight years ago. He married Flossie Newman in Springfield,Tennessee, on October 15, 1955.

Besides his widow he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Russell Bergdale of Hawarden, and a son, Dale, of Hawarden; two step-daughters, Mrs. Gerald Jaye of Madison Heights, Michigan, and Mrs. John Russell of Pulaski, Tennessee; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas, of Clearbrook, Minnesota, Douglas of Waukegan, Illinois, and Warren of Kadoka, South Dakota, and one sister, Mrs. Mae Swanson of International Falls, Minnesota.
