A very sad the latter part of last week was that of Allen C. Godbey. When Mrs. Godbey awoke Friday morning she found him gasping for breath and before anything could be done he had passed away. He was as well as usual the evening before and his death was a great shock to his family and to the community. Mr. Godbey took sick last summer and was in the hospital at Le Mars for several weeks, suffering with leakage of the heart and complication of other diseases. He was feeling so much better lately that he was hoping for complete recovery. But it was not so to be. He is survived by his wife and one son. He was about forty years of age.

The funeral was held from the German Lutheran Church on Monday afternoon, Reverend Schmidt in charge. He was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ireton, Sioux County, Iowa. The funeral was largely attended.
