From the Rock Valley Bee, February 24, 1922:

DEATH OF MRS. W. P. MOELLER

Mrs. Emma Dorothy Moeller was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lutzen. She was born in Lyon county, Iowa, Feb. 18, 1891. The greater part of her life was spent with her parents. In later years she attended Hyland Park College at Des Moines, for two years; later took a course in Mankato Business College at Mankato, Minn. Having completed her studies, she was afterwards employed as stenographer at Mankato and Minneapolis.

On June 7, 1916, she was married to Wm. P. Moeller of Sioux county. For several years they farmed south of Rock Valley, and two years ago moved to Lyon county and farmed the Henry Lutzen farm south of Alvord. The deceased was often ill, sometimes seriously, but was ever content and enjoyed her home and family, whom she dearly loved.

Last Wednesday morning she went to Sioux City and on Thursday morning submitted to an operation. She was getting along nicely. Her husband who was with her returned home Friday morning to be with the two little daughters, who have a severe attack of whooping cough. Friday night her condition suddenly became alarming. An internal goiter affected her heart and weakened her greatly. Relatives were immediately advised as to her condition and hastened to the hospital to be at her bedside. Her condition was critical and the worst could be expected. She, however, put up a brave struggle against the grim reaper of death. She grew weaker and weaker and in spite of all medical skill and loving care she passed into the Great Beyond Saturday evening Feb. 11, 1922 at 6:30. Her mortal remains were brought to Alvord Sunday evening.

Emma Dorothy Moeller was a dutiful loving wife; all too soon the happy union has been dissolved. What a severe loss to the bereaved husband. She loved her home and children. How often they will miss their mother's love.

On March 14, 1912, she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and has ever been a faithful member. Her untimely departure is mourned by her husband and two daughters, Vera, aged 4, and Arlo, aged 1 year, her parents and one and only sister, now Mrs. Henry Ahders, besides many more distant relatives and a host of friends and acquaintances. She had attained the age of 30 years, 11 months and 23 days.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Lutheran church; the remains were interred in the Lutheran cemetery. Rev. Erwin H. Jahr, who baptized, confirmed, and solemnized her marriage, officiated at the funeral.

The deepest sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved husband and two little girls, parents and relatives, in their irreparable loss and sore affliction.--Alvord Register.
