Jessie Zigtema
Former O.C. Lady Dies at Cherokee

Past passed away at Cherokee Saturday at 1:45 p. m. at the age of 58 years, 1 month, and 12 days. She died from bronchitis and heart trouble. Mrs. Zigtema was born in Oster Bierum Friesland in 1885. She came to the United States in 1906. While living in Illinois she married Henry Zigtema at Wierhert, Ill. They came to Orange City in 1918.
She is survived by her husband and nine children: Barney, Walter, Tilly, (Mrs. Gerrit Roghair), Sadie (Mrs. Henry Roghair), Dorothea, Harriet, Tena (Mrs. Fred Vogelzang of Rock Valley), Pvt Sam Zigtema of San Diego, Calif., and Pvt. Raymond Zigtema of Camp Edwards, Mass.
She also leaves 6 grandchildren, 1 brother, Sam Post of Orange City and 1 sister, Mrs. Gerrit Pruissen of Hinckley, Minn. She was preceded in death by 2 of her children who died in infancy.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 8, at 1:00 p. m. at the home and at 1:30 at the First Ref. church at Orange City with Rev. H. Colenbrander officiating.
Mr. Zigtema who is in California, was unable to make train connections. Pvt. Raymond Zigtema of Camp Edwards, Mass, was also expected here for the funeral.
