Mrs. Giebink Rites Tuesday at Reformed Church Here

Mrs. Martha Giebink, a loved resident of Alton for many years, passed on at the Grosssmann Hospital in Orange City Saturday morning, April 9th at the age of 75 years and five days.

She was born April 4, 1880 in the Netherlands and at the age of 8 years came to the U.S. with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Gerben Keizer, the family settling at Alton. She was married at Holland, Minnesota, December 19, 1900 to Wesley Giebink. The couple lived in Alton and Mrs. Giebink continued to make her home here after the death of her husband December 10, 1947.

Surviving are five children: Jeanette, Mrs. Peter De Zeeuw of Lake Wilson, Minnesota, Clarence, Waupun, Wisconsin; Mildred, Mrs. Leonard Verhey, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; Howard, Santa Ana, California; Marian, Mrs. Herber Zunkel, Ankeny, Iowa. Also surviving are 10 grand-children and 4 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Mrs. Gerrit Rensink of Alton and Mrs. John Schut of Washington State; 5 brothers, Gerben and Bert Keizer of Hawarden, Wesley Keizer of Le Mars, Pete Keizer of Alton and Casey, Washington State.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Reformed Church in Alton with the Reverend Sandee officiating. Pallbearers were six nephews, Gerald Keizer, Edward Keizer, Gilbert Keizer, Ronald Van Gelder, John Koster, and Marshall Rees.

Here for the services were the children, Mr. and Mrs. Peter De Zeeus and daughter, Alvera Ruth, Clarence Giebink and son Gerald, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Verhey, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Zunkel. Howard was unable to attend.

Other relatives here included Mrs. Ed Giebink; Herbert and Josephine Volgs, South Dakota; Marvine Brewer, Hull; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Keizer, Sioux Center; Messrs. and Mesdames Gerben Keizer, and Bert Keizer, Hawarden, Wesley Keizer and Marshall Rees, Le Mars; Mrs. Sara Vellings, Ireton and others from nearby towns.

Mrs. Giebink is remembered by her many friends for her neighborly acts of kindness and encouraging words. She was devoted to her family and church and a wonderful mother.
