Mrs. J. L. Brands Dies At.Leota, Minn.
Mrs. J. L. Brands, who moved about two months ago from Sioux Center to Leota. Minn, died last Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gunnink. She was 73 years old at the time
of her death.

Mrs. Brands was born on August 16, 1868 at Minnertsga, Friesland, Netherlands.
At the age of 18 years she came to America. In 1891 she married Wilbertus Broekhuis and they became the parents of three children namely, Gertie, Rena,, and Francis,. Her first husband preceded her in death on April 9, 1923 In October 1925 she married J.L. Brands of Sioux Center, who preceded her in death the 13th of June, 1941. Mrs. Brands had been in failing health for some time.

She leaves to mourn, one sister, Mrs. B. Wierda of Hull, one brother, W. Terpstra of Edgerton, three daughters, Mrs. B. Van Dyk of Lake Wilson, Minn. , Mrs. W. Netjes Chandler, Minn., Mrs.
W. Gunnink of Edgerton, Minn., and five stepchildren namely, Mrs. K. Van Grouw of Inwood, la., E.G. Brands, Hynes, Calif, Mrs. H.A. Bos, Renova, Minn., Mrs. D. Mulder of George, la, and Henry Brands of Sioux Center.

Funeral services were held on Friday with Rev. Gritters of Sioux Center and Rev. Lyzenga of Leota from Leota in charge. Those who went from here to attend the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brands and family,. Rev. and Mrs. Gritters, Mr. and Mrs.. John Hamstra and Mrs. Arie Franken.
