Mr. Jan Lambertus Brands 80 died at his home last Friday afternoon following a lingering illness. Mr. Brands was born at Harderwijk, Neth on Nov 30 1860. He and his family came to America 28 years ago. On Dec 17, 1925 at Sioux Center He married Mrs. Nellie (nee'Terpstra) Broekhuis. He followed the trade of shoe making. His first wife Aatje Brands preceded him in death she died on Dec 28, 1911.

Those who survive him are his widow and the following children, Mrs. Klaas Van Grouw of Inwood IA, Evert Otto Brands of Hynes CA, Mrs. Henry Bos of Dexter MN, Mrs. Dick Mulder of George IA, and Henry Brands of Sioux Center. He also leaves three step children, twenty two grandchildren and five great grand children. Funeral services were held Tuesday, at 12:30.p.m...from the home of Henry Brands, and at 1:00 p.m. from the Central Reformed Church. The Rev. Mr. M. Gritters officiated. Bearers were W. Pelskarnp, J. Verrips, L. Verduin, A. Ten Harmsel, H. Vonk and R. Rozeboom. Burial was in the Sioux Center cemetery.

Note: From wiewaswie.nl His marriage record, Jan Lambertus Brands age 26 a shoemaker married Aartjen Doornhof age 27. Jan was the son of Evert Otto Brands and Geurtje Kroezen and Aartjen was the daughter of Evert Doornhof and Hendrijntje Diedenhoven. They were married 25 May 1887 at Harderwijk, Gelderland, Netherlands. Aartjen died at 52 years on 28 Dec 1911 at harderwijk.
