Mr. Dennis Marra, age 61, of Merrill, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at Unity Point Health in Sioux City, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

There will be a funeral service on Monday, December 26, at 2:00pm, at the American Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Steven Bierly will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Following the interment, visitation with the family will be during a lunch at the church.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Denny was born on November 3, 1955 to Thane and Bette (Kamies) Marra of Hull and attended Hull Christian and Western Christian High School. He married Loreen Geerdes and together they had three children, Tanya, Brent and Bryce. He worked in mobile home sales and service for over 25 years and continued his career in various construction endeavors.

Denny enjoyed camping and fishing at the lakes and escaping the winter by going on warm weather vacations with his family. He also enjoyed attending his children’s sporting events and watching the Vikings. He will be forever known for his funny sayings and the nicknames given to those he loved.

Survivors include his mother, Bette Marra, of Hull; his partner and special friend, Lori Thompson, of Merrill, a daughter and her husband, Tanya and Kyle VanVoorst, of Minneapolis; a son, Bryce Marra, of Hull; two grandsons, Brennan and Beckham VanVoorst; a brother and his wife, Randy and Kathy Marra; two sisters, Barbara and Randy Draayer and Brenda and Gary Anderson, all of Hull; and his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brent Marra and his father, Thane Marra.
