Mrs. Nellie Brunsting, age 94, of Hull, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

There will be a funeral service on Friday, December 23, at 10:30am, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Loren Kotman will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Thursday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Nellie Lena was born on April 27, 1922, in rural Hull, the daughter of Cornelius and Anna (De Boer) Van Ginkel. She was raised in Hull where she attended school through the eighth grade.

On October 24, 1941, she married Harvey Franklin Brunsting in Hull. They made their home in Hull where she was a housekeeper at the telephone office and at the Pizza Ranch headquarters. She also worked at a grocery store and the Radio and TV Center, both in Hull. In earlier years, she and her mother catered many functions, especially weddings, and she worked in the kitchen at the Western Christian High School. Harvey passed away on July 28, 1975, in Hull.

She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she was a funeral lunch coordinator for many years and a former member of the Helping Hands Society. She enjoyed crocheting and baking, especially cookies.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Rodney and Cheryl Brunsting, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Kenneth and Janet Brunsting, of Hull; a daughter-in-law, Janyce Brunsting, of Hull; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Ver Hey, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and two sisters-in-law, Berdena Van Ginkel, of Benson, Arizona, and Evelyn Leafstedt, of Alcester, South Dakota.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Conrad Brunsting; a grandson, Mark Brunsting, in infancy; two brothers, Lewis and Peter Van Ginkel; and a brother-in-law, Frank Ver Hey.

Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Reformed Church.
