YOUNG WIFE AND MOTHER CALLED TO HER REWARD

Mrs. John Reit passed away at her home in Valley Springs, S.D., early Sunday morning, December 25, following an illness of less than three weeks. Mrs. Reit is a daughter of Mrs. L. VandenBosch of Rock Valley. She was born at Orange City April 25, 1898, and was twenty-three years and eight months old. Most of her life was spent in Rock Valley and vicinity, except the past three years when she lived at Valley Springs.

She was united in marriage December 6, 1918, to John Reit, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Reit, Sr., of Rock Valley. To this union three [i.e., two] children were born, the oldest, Harold, and the other a babe of eighteen days. Besides her two children she leaves her husband, her mother and other relatives in Rock Valley who have the sincere sympathy of many friends.

Mrs. Reit was a member of the First Reformed Church of Rock Valley and the Women's Society at Valley Springs. She was a true Christian woman and had many friends wherever she was known.

Funeral services were held from the First Reformed Church in Rock Valley Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Colenbrander and Rev. Kuiper. The services were largely attended by sympathizing friends, who in this way endeavored to show their respect and esteem for the young wife and mother, and their sympathy for the bereaved relatives. The remains were taken to the Valley View Cemetery for burial.

A briefer obit in the Alton Democrat, Rock Valley news, December 31, 1921, adds that she died of blood poisoning, and says she is a daughter of Mr. [i.e., Mrs.?] Lane Vander Bosch of Rock Valley. Based on entries in the Sioux County Cemetery Index, the correct surname appears to be Vanden Bosch.
