From the Rock Valley Bee, December 2, 1921:

YOUNG WIFE AND MOTHER CALLED TO HER REWARD

Mrs. Paul Moerman passed away at her home in Rock Valley Wednesday evening [Nov. 30] at 7:30 after months of sickness and suffering with tuberculosis.

Mrs. Moerman was born in Holland January 5, 1900, and at the time of her death was twenty-one years, ten months and twenty-five days old. The family have lived in Rock Valley for the past seven months, coming here from Boyden where Mr. Moerman was employed in the Boyden creamery. Since moving to Rock Valley, he has been manager of the Rock Valley Creamery.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Moerman leaves two small children, one about two years old and the other nine months old.

The remains will be taken to Boyden, her former home, for burial, and funeral services will be held there at 2:00 o'clock p.m. Saturday. The bereaved husband and children have the sincere sympathy of many friends in the untimely death of the young wife and mother.

From the Boyden Reporter, December 8, 1921:

MRS. ANNA MOERMAN.

Mrs. Anna Moerman, wife of Mrs. Paul Moerman, was born on the 5th day of January, 1900, and died at her home in Rock Valley, Iowa, on Nov. 30th, 1921, at the age of 21 years, 10 months and 25 days. The funeral services were held in Boyden at the Reformed church on Saturday, Dec. 3rd, with Rev. Colenbrander of Rock Valley, Iowa, officiating. Interment was made in the Boyden cemetery.

Deceased was united in marriage to Paul Moerman on the 16th day of October, 1918, and to this union two children were born, one girl Pauline Anna, age past two years, and one boy, Anthony Leonard, age about 1 year. She leaves to mourn her death besides her husband and children, a mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. A. De Boom, six brothers and four sisters, all of Archer, Iowa. The cause of her death was from tuberculosis, having been ailing and confined to her bed for the past four months. Mrs. Moerman was a devoted mother and wife, and was a young lady of sterling character. She leaves a host of friends who mourn her death besides a large number of relatives. The Reporter extends its heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved father, children and relatives.

Briefer obits were published in the Sioux County Index (Hull), December 9; and the Alton Democrat, Boyden news, December 10. The Democrat news note adds that Mrs. Jake Moermon will spend a week or two at the home of her son at Rock Valley until arrangements can be made when she will bring the children to her home and care for them here [i.e., in Boyden].

A news note in the Boyden Reporter, June 16, 1921, says that Paul had been employed in the creamery business at Fort Dodge for the past year, and has accepted the position of manager of the Rock Valley creamery, effective about June 15. He is an experienced butter maker.

Paul Moerman remarried, to Miss Mina Kersbergen, on November 10, 1923, in Sioux City; at the time he was still manager of the Rock Valley Creamery. This article says that he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Moerman of Boyden. (Boyden Reporter, November 22, 1923)
