In the Sioux County Index of March 24, 1916 as recorded in the Twenty Years ago section of the Sioux County Index of March 27, 1936.

Gerrit Boersen living with his wife and two children just north of Perkins, died Monday of complication of scarlet fever and pneumonia and was buried Tuesday. His parents are believed to be Lubbert Boersen and Hendrikje Van Putten born at Nunspeet, Gelderland Netherlands. Gerrit wife was Hendrikje Hup.

Note: Gerrit Jan Boersen born 28 Jul 1887 and died 20 March 1916 buried Hope Cemetery Hull IA as listed in the Sioux County cemetery Index. (In one of the articles on the family it was mentioned that this family got vistors from the Netherlands and they carried the scarlet fever malady with them. They all recovered but in the end Gerrit and only children, his two daughters perished from the disease, a sad story.)
