Hawarden Independent of Apr 5, 1928

Wayne Beyers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Beyers of Elk Point, former residents of this community, passed
away at his home following a lingering illness of several months. The remains were brought to Hawarden overland Wednesday afternoon and laid to rest in Grace Hill cemetery beside his brother. The deceased was member of the Masonic lodge and the organization had charge of the services
at the grave. Rev. Brown of the Congregational church of Elk Point, officiated at the services held at Elk Point.

Wayne Beyers Was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Beyers and was called by death in the prime of life, having attained the age of but 27 years. He was taken seriously ill in Chicago last November with pneumonia and later an operation was performed on his lungs. Everything possible that medical aid could do for him was done but tuberculosis developed as an after effect of pneumonia. His mother went to Chicago and remained at his bedside and when he had recovered sufficiently so that he could travel he returned home with her in January. It was known at that time that his condition was critical and about two week ago he was taken with hemorrhage and death followed.

He lived with his parents on a farm in this vicinity several years ago and then the family moved to South Dakota. Later they returned and for about three years. His father operated a grain elevator at Chatsworth. The family moved to Elk Point three or four years ago. The deceased was employed in Chicago at the time he was taken ill. His younger brother, Kenneth, was with him in Chicago where he attended school. Besides his parents he is survived by one half-brother, Guy Gregory of Montana, and one half-sister, Lillian, from near Huron, S. D., and two brothers, Floyd of Minneapolis and Kenneth of Chicago. All were here for the funeral with the exception of his half-brother, The many friends of the family in this community extend their sincere sympathy to them in their hour of sorrow.

Note: Wayne L. Beyers born 1901 died 1928 Grace Hill Cemetery Hawarden as listed in the Sioux County cemetery index. He was a son of Lou and Matilda (Law) Beyers as mentioned in his father Lew Lewis’s obit .
