Former Resident Dies At Age 9O Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda (Mattie) Beyers, 90, former Hawarden resident who died Sunday in the Virginia Kay hospital at Vinton, Iowa, were held at 2 o'
clock Tuesday at the Barnard- Dow Funeral home in Hawarden. Dr. Franklin Morse of the Baptist church officiated. Mrs. Peter Sinkey was the organist. Interment was in Grace Hill cemetery. Casket bearers were Henry Husted, Emil Lindgren, Elmer Ericson and Walter Larson.

Mrs. Beyers was born at Elk Point SD on April 24, 1875 a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Law. She lived in Hawarden as a child. After her marriage to Lou Beyers they resided at Elk Point and later at Ireton where he died many years ago. He was buried in Grace Hill cemetery. Prior to his sudden death he operated an oil station in Ireton. Mrs. Beyers also was preceded in death by two sons.

Survivors include two sons, Guy Gregory of Cedar Rapids and Kenneth Beyers of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. H. B. Goodwin of Letcher, S. D.; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. She was a cousin of Mrs. Florence Fitzgerald and a sister-in-law of Mrs. Josie McGuire, both of Hawarden.
