Mrs. Henry Bernard passed away at the Doornink hospital at Orange City Sunday at two o’clock.

Mrs. Henry Bernard passed away at the Doornink hospital at Orange City Sunday Sept. 3 at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Bernard was inflicted with diabetes for about 12 years but she was an active member of her household until about two weeks previous to her death, when she was stricken with a stroke. She was under the doctor's care at the hospital for one week. Deceased was a member of the Christian Mother's society and a member of St. Joseph's church as long as she had resided in this vicinity. An example of her Christian living is reflected in that of her lovely family and the kind words said of her which echo from the lips of her many friends.

She was born in Decata, Wisconsin, in 1S6S and there grew to young womanhood. After her marriage to Henry Bernard on Feb. 13, 1893 they made their home on a farm one mile west of the present Bernard farm home for a period of ten years. Thirty five years were happily spent on the home place.

She is survived by seven children. The living children are Mrs. John Goebel (Martha), Mrs. Anton Gaul (Mary), Catherine, Olivia and Frank at home. Laurence and a twin of Frank are deceased.

Funeral service were held Wednesday morning Sep 6 at 9 o’clock at St. Joseph’s church with Rev. J. A. Gerleman officiating. Interment took place in St. Joseph’s cemetery. Pallbearers were John Beckmann, Mike and Frank Goergen, Barney Bueltel, Al Heying and Fred Collinsg. Relatives from a distance: who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Paradise, son Lawrence and two brothers of Wilmont. Minn., Nic Paradise oŁ Elmwood, Kansas, Will Paradise and son Joe of Holly, Colo., Henry Jacoby of Decata, Wis., Mrs. Lawrence Bernard, sons Kenneth and Emmett of Springfield, Minn. Mrs. Me Paradise and son Lawrence of Cedar Grove, Wis., Mrs. Matt Zens, son Norbert and Walter Paradise of Canova Sd. Mr. and Mrs. Peer Guischer and daughter, Mrs. Henry Guischer of Emery SD. Mr. and Mrs. Will Groos of Coleman SD, Mr. and Mrs. John Groos and son Tony of Dell Rapids, SD, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Ruppert and son of Currie MN, Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Kellen and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kellen of Adrian MN.

Note: Her maiden name was Anna Paradise, she was the daughter of Lorentz Paradeis 1835-1895 and Jeannette Anna Meyeres 1838-1897
