MRS. M.C. FOSTER GOES FOR OPERATION BUT IT IS NOT PERFORMED

It is with deep sorrow that The Independent is called upon to record the death of Mrs. Malcom C. Foster which occurred at Iowa City on Friday, October 14th.

Mrs. Foster had been in poor health for some time and her husband brought her back from Montana about a month ago in hopes of securing aid that would prove beneficial to her. Last Thursday it was decided to take her to Iowa City for an operation but she passed away a few hours after arriving there and before the operation took place. The remains were brought to Hawarden for interment and the funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon, Reverend Ambler preaching the funeral sermon. There was a large attendance at the funeral.

Lola May Carr was born at Radcliff, Iowa, June 5, 1882. In 1901 she moved with her parents to Hawarden and on June 29, 1904, she was united in marriage to Malcom C. Foster. Three children were born to them, one of which died at Ft. Benton, Montana, last spring. Last winter she and her husband and children went to Montana to locate on a claim and soon after her health began to fail.

Those who came to attend the funeral were W.E, Foster of LeClaire, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Roundy of Hecla, and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. McMurray and Jas. Lyons of Sioux City, and D.W. Carr of Boone.

The motherless children were taken to LeClaire, Iowa, Monday by W.E. Foster where they will be provided with a comfortable home with their grandparents. The sorrowing husband leaves today for his claim in Montana.
