PIONEER SIOUX COUNTY RESIDENT DIES IN ARKANSAS

Porter Fosburg, a former well known resident of the Hawarden and Ireton, died last Saturday at Siloam Springs, Arkansas following a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Foster had been in poor health for several years and a few weeks ago he and his wife went from New York to visit his brother in Arkansas and try the curative properties of the waters there. His death came very unexpectedly, as he was preparing to return home in Waverly, New York, in a few days. The body was brought to Ireton today for interment in the family lot in the cemetery at that place, where his first wife and several children are buried. His first wife Ella F.(Miller) Fosburg died September 20, 1908.

The deceased was about 76 years of age, was a member of the G.A.R., and a highly respected citizen. He came to Sioux County in the early 70’s and homesteaded near the present town of Ireton where he resided for many years. After leaving the farm he moved to Hawarden and made his home here for several years, going from here to New York state.

Besides his wife, he leaves an only daughter, Mrs. Maud Sierson, of Madison, South Dakota. Mrs. Sierson arrived in Hawarden today, she and her husband, together with the wife of the deceased, having accompanied the body to Ireton. Mrs. Sierson is in poor health and was unable to attend the services.
