Mrs. Hattie Zevenbergen

Mrs. Hattie Zevenbergen, age 96, of Alton, passed away Monday, January 5, at Valley Manor in Rock Valley.
Hattie was born February 11, 1890, in Sioux County, the daughter of Wien Van Oort and A. Lagendyk Van Oort. On April 20, 1911, she married Peter Zevenbergen at Middleburg. They farmed in the Sibley and Carnes areas. In 1935, they moved to LeMars, and in 1956, they retired to Alton. In 1977, they both became residents of Valley Manor in Rock Valley. Mr. Zevenbergen passed away May 6, 1978, at Rock Valley.
Mrs. Zevenbergen was a member of the Reformed Church of Alton. Survivors include her two sons, Peter "Bob", of Alton; and Julius, of Bellflower, California; daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Adrianna) Van Wyk, of Bellflower; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Tom (Dena) Gesselscap, of Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs. Frank (Attie) Bruyn of Hospers; and Mrs. Frank (Jennie) Vander Stoep, of California. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Van Etten-Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City, with the Rev. Ray Tilstra, of the Reformed Church of Alton, officiating. Interment followed at Nassau Township Cemetery, near Alton.
