Paul Leonard Moerman was born July 1, 1931 in Sioux Center, Iowa to Peter Sr. and Tryntje (Schelling) Moerman.  He attended Sioux Center Christian School and Western Christian High School, graduating in 1949.  After high school he worked for Moerman Brothers Painters and Decorators.  He would later become a partner in the business.
He served in the U.S. Army from February of 1953 until December of 1954, serving in Korea for 16 months.  He was the youngest of 6 Moerman brothers to serve in the military.
Paul married Darlene Vugteveen in Rock Valley, Iowa, on July 1, 1953.  To this union six children were born.  Paul was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church for many years, serving as a deacon.  Later he and Darlene became charter members of Faith Christian Reformed Church where he served as an Elder and led several Bible Studies.  He also served on the Christian School Board for a number of years.  He owned the Coast to Coast store in Sioux Center for over twenty years.  During that time he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and served on the steering committee for the Downtown Centre Mall.
In 1992 they moved to Texas to assist their daughter with her small daughter.  They had no idea God had planned this to be a lifelong commitment.  While living in Houston, Paul worked for Randall’s Food Stores.  He always said he was in their public relations department because he loved to visit with the customers and made many friends during this time.
He was a member of Quail Valley Community Church in Missouri City, Texas, where he took on many leadership roles.  He was later a member of Town North Presbyterian Church in Richardson, TX.  His extensive Bible knowledge served him well and was very much appreciated by these congregations. He enjoyed reading, word puzzles, woodworking, and oil painting.  His children and grandchildren enjoy many of the things he made.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Darlene Moerman; daughter, Paula (Henry) Brownfield of Paris, TX;  sons, Mark (Carol) Moerman of Sioux City, IA, Tim (Sherri) Moerman of Waukee, IA, and Steve (Diane) Moerman of Menno, SD; daughters, Laurel Lioi of Plano, TX and Lynne (Jim) Green of Dallas, TX; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Peter Moerman of Rock Valley, IA, Nellie Rodibaugh and Dena Cuperus of Michigan.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Sr. and Tryntje Moerman; brothers, Cornelius, John, Adrian, William and Arie; sisters, Henrietta Olsen and Magdalin Fedders.
