Mr. Kelly Wallinga, age 48, of Hull, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at the Sanford University of South Dakota Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, November 15, at 1:30pm, at the American Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Steven Bierly will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Monday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Kelly Jay was born on February 16, 1968, in Omaha, Nebraska. He lived his entire life in Hull, where he graduated from the Boyden-Hull High School in 1986.

In earlier years, he was employed at Hymans Construction in Sioux Center and the Formosa Food Company in Hull. More recently, he worked in the bakery at the WalMart Super Center in Sioux Center.

Mr. Wallinga was a member of the American Reformed Church, where he sang on the praise team and in the choir. He also served in the evangelism group. As a youth, he attended Boys State.

He enjoyed attending basketball and football games, fishing, helping wherever he could, hunting, and spending time with his parents, brothers, nephews, and friends, Brian Bouma, and Katelyn Bouma and Keizer Cook, whom he often cared for. He collected old fishing lures and rods and items related to horses.

Survivors include his parents, Arnold Jay and Shirley Kay (Nagel) Wallinga, of Hull; two brothers, Kyle Wallinga, of Maryville, Missouri; and Kory Wallinga, and his wife, Tressa, of Louisville, Kentucky; nephews and nieces, Sam Wallinga, and his wife, Andrea, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Tyler Wallinga, of Maryville; Marjorie Stoehr, of Grundy Center; Janie, and her husband, Larry Coe, of Ventura; and Donna Nagel, of Perham, Minnesota; a former sister-in-law, Rita Wallinga; cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Wallinga and Nagel grandparents; uncles and aunts, Galoris Bathke, George Nagal, Mavis Nagel, Gary Stoehr, and Daryl Johnson; and cousins, Gary Stoehr, Jr., and Natasia Newsom.
