From the Rock Valley Bee, March 4, 1921:

N. A. FINK DEAD

Word was received here the first of the week from California telling of the death of N. A. Fink, a former resident of Rock Valley for many years. According to the report, Mr. Fink had been sick for some time, but a short time before his death he seemed to be better. We are not in possession of further particulars.

Mr. Fink was well known in Rock Valley and vicinity, and was highly respected by all who knew him. He served in the civil war and was a member of the G.A.R. post here for several years. The family moved from Rock Valley to Riverside, California, a few years ago and have since resided there.

From the Rock Valley Bee, March 11, 1921:

DEATH OF N. A. FINK

Since publishing the notice in last week's issue of the Bee of the death of N. A. Fink at his home at Riverside, California, we have learned the following particulars: He was sick for but a short time and then not sick enough to be in bed. He died Sunday, February 20. A few days before he complained of pains in his chest, and on Saturday, the day before his death, he had pains in his arms. On the following day he went to see a doctor. He died that same day at 3:50 p.m. His death was due to heart trouble.

Before removing to California, Mr. Fink had lived in Rock Valley for 27 years and was highly respected, and had many friends here.

The following is a clipping from the Riverside, California paper:

Norris A. Fink was born at Baldwinsville, Onondaga county, New York, May 1, 1844, and died at his home in Riverside, California, February 20, 1921. His boyhood was spent in Kaneville, Illinois. He was a soldier of the civil war, serving continuously in Company I, 8th Illinois cavalry, from the time of the organization of the said regiment, Sept. 16, 1861, to the time it was disbanded, in the latter part of July 1865.

After the Civil War he remained in Illinois until 1880, when he removed to Mt. Vernon, S.D., and was engaged in farming to 1888, when he removed to Rock Valley, Iowa, where he lived from 1888 to 1915, and was engaged in the business of stock, grain and insurance. In October 1915 he removed to Riverside, Cal., living there until the time of his death. He passed peacefully away sitting in an arm chair at his home.

He was married in 1868 to Mary A. Perry. They had six children, four of whom survive him, namely: Clarence, Maud, Harry and Ruth, now Mrs. Conrad Stahlman.

He had been commander of Riverside Post G.A.R., and was a true and faithful soldier, a patriotic and highly respected citizen.
