DEATH OF WILLIAM MULVEY

William Mulvey died at his home in Rock Valley Friday morning after a lingering illness of several months. The Mulvey family have lived in Rock Valley for the past nineteen years, Mr. Mulvey having at one time conducted a meat market here. He also served for several years as city assessor, but for more than a year past he had been confined to his home by sickness.

Mr. Mulvey was born at New Haven, Indiana, August 31, 1852, and at the time of his death was sixty-eight years, five months and twenty-four days old. His parents died when he was five years old.

He was united in marriage to Miss Martha Carney of Cecil, Ohio, My 18, 1882. To this union were born seven children. Mrs. Mae Kirshner of Pocatello, Idaho, Mrs. Edith Ashley, Mason City, Iowa, Miss Jessie Mulvey who has been teaching in Wyoming until called home recently by her father's sickness, William Mulvey, Jr., Sioux City, Marion, Harry, and Florence Mulvey of Rock Valley. All were present at the bedside of their father except Mrs. Kirshner and William Mulvey. The latter was here a few weeks ago.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Mulvey lived at Cecil, Ohio, for five years when they moved to Waterloo, Iowa, and from there in 1892, they moved to Doon, and nineteen years ago they came to Rock Valley where the family have since resided.

Besides his wife and children, Mr. Mulvey leaves one sister, Mrs. John Streck, of Van Wert, Ohio, and one brother, James Mulvey, of Anaheim, California.

Funeral services were held at the late home of the deceased Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Bostick of the Methodist Church. The bereaved family have the sympathy of a number of friends in their great sorrow.

William Mulvey, who has been confined to his home for nearly two years, and who has been a patient sufferer especially in the past few months, died at his home Friday, February 25th. The deceased was born at New Haven, Indiana, Aug. 31, 1852, and at the time of his passing was 68 years, 5 months and 24 days old. When a child of tender years he was bereft of his parents, after which he found a home among friends. When twelve years of age he was afflicted with erysipelas which settled in his limb and left him crippled, which proved a menace to him through life.

He formed the acquaintance of Miss Martha Cerney of Cecil, Ohio, and the were married May 18, 1882, and as a result of this union seven children were born to them, namely: Mrs. Mae Kirchner, Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs. Edith Ashley, Mason City; Miss Jessie Mulvey, Wheatland, Wyo.; Marion, Harry and Florence, Rock Valley; and William Mulvey of Sioux City. All were present to pay the last tribute of respect to a departed father except Mrs. Kirchner and William who could not be present.

After their marriage they continued to live at Cecil, Ohio, for a period of five years, where he followed the butcher business, after which he moved to a farm near Waterloo, Indiana, where they lived for five years. In 1892 he moved to Doon and has resided in the vicinity of Doon and Rock Valley for 27 years. He was a good neighbor and father and was held in high esteem by his friends. He leaves a companion and children and a brother, Jas. Mulvey, of Anaheim, Cal., and one sister, Mrs. John Streck Van Wert of Ohio to mourn his demise.

Funeral services were conducted at the home at two o'clock Sunday by Rev. T. S. Bostick, pastor of the Methodist church, after which he was interred in Valley View cemetery. The family have the sympathy of their friends in their sad hour.
